What is Mediation?
Mediation is a way for people to work out their problems and arrive at
mutually agreeable resolutions with the help of trained, impartial mediators
who facilitate productive, future focused communication between the parties.
Mediation is a
better way to settle differences than a costly and time consuming court battle,
calling in an authority figure, or enduring an ongoing conflict.
It is a voluntary,
confidential settlement process which allows you to control the decisions which
affect your family, business, finances, and life rather than having an outcome
imposed by a third party.
"The courts of this country should not be
the places where the resolution of disputes begins. They should be the
places where disputes end - after alternative methods of resolving
disputes have been considered and tried."
Sandra Day O'Connor
Former Associate Justice,
United States Supreme Court
"The notion that ordinary people want black-robed judges, well-dressed
lawyers and fine courtrooms as settings to resolve their issues is not
correct. People with problems, like people with pain, want relief, and
they want it as quickly and inexpensively as possible..."Warren E. Burger,
Former Chief Justice,
United States Supreme Court
"I never made a deal of any lasting value unless the other guy
felt he won something too"
Lee Iacocca
"Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbor to compromise
whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a
real loser - in fees, expenses and waste of time."
Abraham Lincoln
